The top resorts in Port Dickson

By Nadia Sheng,

Port Dickson is a beach destination along the way to KL from Singapore by car (less than a two-hour drive from KL). Because we think it’s a worthwhile detour we’ve rounded up seven of the town’s top-rated beachfront hotels, stretching from Bagan Lalang to the tail end of Pork Dickson Beach, for you to book or bookmark for later!

Port Dickson Beach

At the top of Port Dickson beach is the sister hotel of Avillion Admiral Cove – ideal for a holiday with the kids. Don a mermaid tail and learn how to swim like a one, walk among peacocks in the hotel’s own aviary, ask to have a private DIY BBQ set dinner for your whole family…you won’t want to miss the magical experiences crafted by Avillion Hotel for both young and old. Standard, double rooms are 32 square metres and face the beach. The most economical option for families is the Water Chalet which can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children. We recommend dining at The Verte where you’re encouraged to try the different herbs used in dishes before ordering them.

Klana Beach Resort Port Dickson

Located at the tail end of Port Dickson Beach is this halal resort. Note that there are separate swimming pools for men and women and alcohol isn’t served (you can walk to nearby eateries for that). So, if that doesn’t bother you, there’s a lot to be enjoyed here including the hotel’s very own astronomical observatory and sunsets on the beach. Guests have rated Klana Beach Resort a “very good” 80/100 owing to its value for money (a typical Malaysian breakfast is included in the price for a double room).

Avillion Admiral Cove

Situated in the centre of Port Dickson Beach is the 5-star luxury resort that’s joined with the Admiral Marina & Leisure Club. Standard, double rooms are 37.4 square metres and can accommodate up to 2 adults and 1 child. The finest hotels in the region are usually colonial-style which, with the large verandahs, the hotel most certainly is. The characteristic styling of the waterfront hotel extends to its coffee shop and pub; the Traders’ Food Shop and Sailor’s Drink Shop respectively.

Bagan Lalang

First of all, from an aerial view, the cluster of raised villas, built directly over the water, are shaped into a palm tree. Rooms start at a generous 52 square metres at the top rated 4-star in Sungai Pelek (town directly north of PD) and have private balconies or terraces, depending on if you’re on the first or second level, with outdoor lounge furniture providing you front row seats to that sunset. Or you can enjoy the view from the hotel’s infinity pool. We recommend participating in the Black Ivory Coffee Workshop, an informational session on one of the world’s rarest coffees.

Tanjung Gemuk Beach

Lexis Port Dickson

The top rated 4-star in PD holds this accolade owing to its impressive range of entertainment facilities. Those with young children will be glad the hotel has both an outdoor playground and indoor playroom while those with older kids will have fun doing KMX karting or archery together. Standard, double rooms are 39 square metres. Each has one king and one day bed, and a private balcony overlooking the sea. Another activity for the family is our national pastime, karaoke. Enjoy singing without having to watch the clock in a group of up to 18 people at the hotel’s own karaoke centre. For dining, there are alfresco restaurants next door at sister hotel Grand Lexis Port Dickson and various local food options within walking distance.

Grand Lexis Port Dickson

Guests at either of the two Lexis Port Dickson hotels on Tanjung Gemuk Beach can use each other’s facilities. The Grand Lexis Port Dickson contains more of the facilities shared between the two hotels, including the Lex Spa. Standard, double rooms each have a private swimming pool and a king-sized bed, and is a spacious 62 square metres. There are 10 room types to choose from, ranging from 2-6 person rooms. Each has a private pool, some with private gardens. Guests praise the Lexis Hotel Group’s Port Dickson hotels for their value for money.
